Overview

Detail Itinerary


  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    Our representative will come to the airport for transfer to the Hotel. After some refreshment in the hotel, Our Tour leader will make pre departure meeting in the Hotel or at our office. The meetings will covers trip related information’s & collecting your Documents (passport copy, 2 passport size photos, Travel insurance).

  • Day 02-03: Kathmandu: Free day or City Sightseeing (pay Locally for sightseeing)

    After morning breakfast, free day for trek preparation. OR, you can do sightseeing tour in Kathmandu valley with visiting into fascinating heritage and cultural sites. There are few places that are worth to visit such as holy Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Durbar Squire ( One is in Kathmandu, in patan and also in Bhaktapur), Museum,  monasteries, old historical Palaces and Gardens. Note:  this tour is optional so you can visit with place of your interest & pay locally.

  • Day 04: Fly to Lukla 2,800m-9,186 ft and trek to Chutanga 3,430m-11,253 ft - 04 hrs.

    Early morning depart from the hotel for the flight to Lukla on reaching Kathmandu domestic airport board in a small plane Dornier or Twin Otter, flight offers great views array of snow capped peaks with Mt. Everest as the plane touches down after 30 minutes of scenic flight to Lukla, a unique airstrip with a runway with uphill slope, Lukla airport at present named after legendry climber Tenzing & Hillary Airport. After a time here for a while then start the walk towards to our first night camp on the outskirt of Lukla at Chutanga, from Lukla following our guide above Lukla and heading into wooded area of pines, firs and rhododendron to reach our campsite in a nice grassy filed at Chutanga a small settlement with few shades and huts, a cattle herders summer pasture.

  • Day 05: Trek to Tuli Kharka 4,300 m-14,108 ft - 06 hrs.

    From here our real adventure begins leaving the last human settlement for a week or more, heading towards complete wilderness with a steep climb across Kalo Himal of Nau Lekh rocky ridge range, separating Khumbu and Hongu valley and beyon east towards Makalu area, after a tough climb reaching top ridge adorned with prayer flags at 4,450 meters high, this pass is called  Zatrwa Og, walk continues to cross over Zatrwa-La at 4,600 m, offering tremendous views of Dudh Kosi river valley, Karyolung and Lumding Himal, as the walk leads downhill to Tuli Kharka on a summer pasture field for overnight camp, after a great trek of the day.

  • Day 06: Trek to Mousum Kharka 3,430m-11,253 ft - 04 hrs.

    After a wonderful overnight stop at Tuli Kharka, morning walk leads downhill with super view of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, after few hours of pleasant walk through alpine forest reaching into hidden valley of Khumbu at Hongu (Hinku) area, overlooking magnificent views of Mera Peak, after a nice break walk continues on this lovely valley and through thick rhododendron and pine tree forested area to reach another summer pasture at Mosum Kharka for overnight camp.

  • Day 07: Trek to Tagnag 4,360-14,304 ft - 05 hrs.

    From this lovely campsite walk continues closer to our destination at first to stop at a wonderful place in Tangnag, morning walk carries on this pleasant valley in woodlands surrounding, as the walk leads on a wide open valley with a grazing countryside with several spread out Sheppard huts and shelter and then reaching at Gondishung 4,350 meters close to Tagnag. Gondishung an interesting place with 200 year old small Gompa (monastery) located on boulders in a shade with other prayer monuments and flags, after this impressive place a few hours of good walk brings at our overnight camp at Tagnag, camping close to several small huts serving as temporary stores and lodge for the trekkers and staff walking this route to Mera area around Hongu valley.

  • Day 08: Rest day at Tagnag for acclimatization.

    After several days of good and hard trek, a free and rest day here at Tagang a wonderful place to be for leisure walk and hike, most important for acclimatization before heading higher area for the climb of Mera Peak, around here several high hills for vista of surrounding snow capped peaks.

  • Day 09: Trek near Mera-la 5,415 m-17,766 ft and camp - 05 hrs.

    With a pleasant stop at Tagnag , morning heading tour main highlight of this trip towards upper Hongu valley for overnight camp at the base of Mera -la pass at 5, 415 meters high, morning trek leads with few ups and downs along with wonderful scenery of surrounding landscapes and hills of Hongu valley, as the walk heads to Charpatti Tal (lake) dammed with rocks and moraine, after going by the icy lake a short climb and then downhill to Dig Kharka also called as Khare for overnight camp before Mera-la pass.

     

  • Day 10: Trek to Upper Hongu Valley 5,000m-16,404 ft -05 hrs.

    On completing first part of lower Hongu / Hinku valley trekking, adventure continues to cross over main areas of Upper Hongu Valley, passing a small col with super vista of Chamling, Makalu and Baruntse. From here on the downhill for two hours to reach a nice spot for rest and lunch beside the Hongu Drangka, beneath west face of Chamlang, after a break here trekking below Chamlang, and gradually climbing into Upper Hongu Valley the walk from here with complete views of Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Everest, after two hours of good strong walk leading to a grassy flat slope for overnight camp.

  • Day 11: Trek to Hongu Pokhari 5,000m-16,404 ft - 05 hrs.

    Today compared to other past days walk is much shorter to reach at Hongu or Panch Pokhari, a small icy pond fed from the glacier of Amphu and Mingbo peaks, Morning walk follows a gradual climb, and then on more steeply over moraine and rocky glacier, then leading towards an old and recent moraine deposits, to reach at Hongu Pokhari for overnight camp on this lovely spot in the middle of nowhere in complete wilderness in the harmony of high surrounding peaks.

  • Day 12: Rest day at Hongu (Panch) Pokhari.

    Another rest day after Tagnag which is necessary to pull back the strength back for the final challenging climb to Mt. Baruntse, here relaxing or short hike exploring this least visited area, an opportunity to climb a small hill behind the camp for superb views of Hinku Glacier and the Mingbo-la.

  • Day 13: Trek to Baruntse Base Camp 5,300m-17,388 ft – 04 hrs.

    After a fine rest at the ponds, walk leads towards east on an ill define trail, past the Hongu glacier over moraine with awesome views of surrounding peaks, including north east face of Amadablam, Hongu and Amphu peaks. Trek follows to a climb above Baruntse Base Camp at over 5,300 meters high after a good strenuous walk of four hours, base camp by the Baruntse Glacier.

  • Day 14-27: 14 days for climbing, preparation for summit of Baruntse.

    Trexmount Ventures allowed minimum of 14 days for the final summit bid of Baruntse, on two weeks all should be perfectly physically fit and getting busy to make the trail and route to the summit, here our climbing guide will do all necessary job in assisting the group, packing and reloading the gear to further next high camps, probably 2 more camps will be adequate after base camp for the final bid to the summit. Our Sherpa guides with high altitude porters will ferry the necessary gear to the high camps, and assist in fixing ropes where necessary and making the best possible routes for the great climb to the summit of Baruntse. It is hard to predict exact day for the summit bid during these 14 days itinerary for the climb. While our guide and team member will make the route and fix ropes and carrying loads up to next camps. Route description as follows, from Base Camp following an old grassy moraine ridges roughly eastwards to a broad saddle from one can see a Mingbo-La and Makalu. From the saddle turn north and climb up rocky ground and finally through boulders to the ridge below Pt.5, 705 which is the site of camp I. There are four or five tents platforms. From Camp I: Cross a rocky bowl (tricky if snow covered) until below two rock fingers, then move on to a ridge proper. Climbing the ridge involves rock and ice climbing of severe standard with steps.

     Camp II: is on the last section at the edge from the summit on snow slopes which provides one of the hardest pitches on the climb at near 6, 630 meters high. Follow the ridge to a crevasse in the upper face, which offers another good resting site. Climb the snow/ Ice slope to reach the final ascent to the summit top at 7,129 m /23,389 ft high. Super Views! All need to be back at base camp by Day 28-29. At this point the porters will arrive for our walk out to Lukla.

  • Day 28: Back at Base Camp.

    An extra day to re-organize camping and climbing equipment, clean up the rubbish, picking up everything that has been brought leaving nothing except foot prints behind, collected rubbish to bring it back and to be handed to SPCC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee) or to bring back to Kathmandu this is important to collect the garbage deposit money back.

  • Day 29: Trek back to Hongu Pokhari.

    The walk back will be more or less on the same path most of the way to Hongu Pokhari or beyond depending upon the time, availability of water and camping site

  • Day 30: Trek on route to Khare - 07 hrs.

    The route back involves a climb over the Mere-la and slowly descending towards to the overnight camp at Khare.

  • Day 31: Trek to Khotey 3,600 m-11,811 ft -06 hrs.

    After a successful climb being on top of the world with awesome life time experience, return journey on the same route but feeling much better heading lower alpine and back into tree lines area, to camp at Khotey a small summer grazing filed.

  • Day 32: Trek to Tuli Kharka 4,200 m-13,780 ft - 06 hrs.

    Continue return journey as the walk leads through dense alpine woodland and summer pasture with a short steep climb to reach a hill top ridge and descend to a nice grassy meadow for last overnight camp of this adventure as next day sleeping in lodge at Lukla before Kathmandu.

  • Day 33: Trek to Lukla 2,860 m-9,383 ft - 07 hrs.

    Today, a long and hard walk of this adventure trekleads back to the high passes over Nualekh at Kalo Himal ridge and over Zatrwa Og, Zatrwa-La, after a steep haul descend towards Chutanga and forested area, after a short rest and then few hours walk reaches back to civilization at Lukla for last overnight stop in the high hills and mountains of Khumbu and Everest area, with last night dinner farewell to porters and camping staffs.

  • Day 34: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

    At Lukla the flight operates from early morning to Kathmandu, sometimes the flight time can get delayed due to unfavorable and bad weather, as per the flight time board in a small Dornier or Twin Otter plane for the scenic flight back to Kathmandu, on reaching at Katmandu domestic terminal Trexmount Ventures staff transfer you back to respective hotels in the heart of Kathmandu around Thamel area.

  • Day 35-36: In Kathmandu with cultural tour at places of interest.

    This tow days reserved in case of flight delay in Lukla due to unfavorable weather conditions, on this two extra free day you can book for sightseeing tour, in our interesting cultural heritage tour around Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan this cities full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquake, on this free day with time visiting ministry of tourism to submit the climbing report to respective government department.

  • Day 37: Departure :

    Breakfast, transfer to Tribhuvan International airport for departing from Nepal.
