Frequently Asked Questions

The Darjeeling and Sikkim Tour is a curated Eastern Himalaya holiday covering Darjeeling, Gangtok, Pelling, and nearby attractions like tea gardens, monasteries, lakes, and viewpoints. Most packages include hotel stays, private/shared transport, breakfast, sightseeing tours, and permits for restricted areas like Tsomgo Lake or North Sikkim (depending on itinerary).

Most travelers need 6 to 8 days to comfortably explore both destinations. Typically, 2–3 days are spent in Darjeeling, 3–4 days in Sikkim (Gangtok + North Sikkim or Pelling), plus travel time between locations. This duration allows sightseeing without rushing through long mountain road journeys.

The best time is March to May (spring) and October to December (autumn–early winter). These months offer clear views of Kanchenjunga, pleasant weather, and ideal travel conditions. Winter brings snow in higher areas, while monsoon season (June–September) may cause landslides and road delays.

Key highlights include Tiger Hill sunrise, Batasia Loop, tea gardens, MG Marg (Gangtok), Rumtek Monastery, Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathula Pass, Pelling skywalk, and Khecheopalri Lake. Some itineraries also include Yumthang Valley and Gurudongmar Lake in North Sikkim.

This is an easy to moderate sightseeing tour. There is no trekking involved, but long driving hours on mountain roads are common. Altitude in some areas (like Nathula Pass) can affect sensitive travelers slightly, but overall it is suitable for families and all age groups.

Yes, it is one of the best family-friendly Himalayan tours. It includes comfortable travel, scenic viewpoints, monasteries, and light walking activities. Children and seniors can enjoy it easily, making it a popular choice for first-time travelers to the Eastern Himalayas.

Yes, permits are required for places like Tsomgo Lake, Nathula Pass, and North Sikkim (Lachen/Lachung) because they are restricted or border areas. These are usually arranged by your travel agency using valid ID proof and passport-size photos.

Weather in Darjeeling and Sikkim is generally cool and unpredictable. Mornings are often foggy, while afternoons can be clearer. Temperatures vary by season—warm in spring, cold in winter, and rainy during monsoon. Visibility of mountains depends heavily on weather conditions.

Travel between destinations involves 4–6 hours of winding mountain roads. For example, Darjeeling to Gangtok or NJP to Darjeeling takes several hours despite short distances. Road conditions and traffic can extend travel time, so buffer time is always recommended.

This tour is popular because it combines tea gardens, colonial hill stations, Buddhist culture, high-altitude lakes, and Himalayan views in one trip. Travelers get a mix of culture, nature, and adventure without trekking, making it one of the most complete Himalayan holiday experiences in India.
